Michael Pasco is seeking the Republican nomination to represent District 3 for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.
Per Butler County's Elections Hub, Pasco is running in the GOP primary against Kelly Herzet.
"I am not here for a paycheck, insurance, or to waste your tax dollars," Pasco said in a July 15 Facebook post. "I am here to support you as a Community Member and a Resident of this Wonderful County. I aim to ensure Transparency and Accountability in how your tax dollars are spent. You deserve to know where your money is going."
In that post, Pasco also detailed his priority of using tax funds responsibly to work towards efficient allocation of funds and reduce the strain on taxpayers. He also highlighted increased transparency so taxpayers know where their money is going in the community.
In a July 11 post on his campaign's Facebook page, Pasco detailed his proposal for establishing District Citizens Advisory Boards, which would "enable business owners and citizens to become more involved in county affairs and directly participate in the changes taking place." Additionally, Pasco also raised the possibility of establishing other advisory boards and committees such as a Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, Mental Health Advisory Board, County Community Corrections Advisory Board, County Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board, and Sheriff's Civil Service Board.
With regard to personal property rights, in a July 9 post on his campaign's Facebook page, Pasco explained his philosophy that citizens should have the right to do with their property as they please without excessive government control as long as they are in compliance with codes and safety measures.
In a press release, R.E.D. PAC — a political action committee focused on rural economic development — presented Pasco as a candidate who "has demonstrated a robust understanding of the issues" in his district and has "a clear commitment to principles that ensure economic stability, promote transparency and accountability in governance, and safeguard the community."
R.E.D. PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Pasco, praising his "unparalleled dedication to protecting private property rights and implementing practical solutions to enhance community living" and predicting that his "leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that Kansas communities thrive in an environment where freedom, security, and prosperity are the top priorities."
