Lakepoint El Dorado, LLC was identified as the third largest nursing facility in Butler County during the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The data indicates that the facility offered 75 beds, five below the Butler County average in the same period, and the center served an average of 61.4 residents.

The CMS assigned Lakepoint El Dorado, LLC an overall rating of 2 out of 5, which falls short of the statewide average rating of 3 for Kansas nursing homes.

For the same quarter, Life Care Center of Andover ranked as the largest nursing facility in Butler County with 154 beds, while Lakepoint Augusta, LLC was second with 88 beds.

By first quarter 2026, Lakepoint El Dorado, LLC had incurred a total of $32,261 from three fines and was subject to three penalties.

Altogether, five for-profit nursing homes were operating in Butler County, Kansas.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show the older U.S. population is increasing as younger demographics decrease. From 2020 to 2024, the nation’s population of adults 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The older adult population in the U.S. has surged over the last 100 years, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.

Research from 2021 estimated that about half of adults in this age group—approximately 28 million—are likely to require long-term services and support. The same study also predicts that more than one-third may ultimately need nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
